Hestóvin Stables Therapeutic Riding Center Scholarship Program
Hestóvin Stables Therapeutic Riding Center is dedicated to making our services available to all who can benefit from therapeutic lessons. We are able to provide a limited number of lesson scholarships due to the generosity of individuals and community businesses.
Scholarships are based on financial need and provide assistance to cover the cost of therapeutic lessons.
The actual cost per lesson per rider is approximately $150, but we charge $60. We actively fundraise throughout the year to underwrite the cost of our programming so that we can charge less than half of the actual cost.
Please email [email protected] for any questions or to obtain a Scholarship Application.
Scholarship Policies
A scholarship is awarded in the amount of $720 per semester. The scholarship covers $40 per lesson and the scholarship recipient is responsible for $20 per lesson. Applicants will be evaluated before each semester.
- Before the first lesson of each semester, $120 is due to cover your cost for the entire semester.
- Scholarship recipients and/or their family members are expected to volunteer at the barn. Attendance at one of our monthly Volunteer Orientations is required. Here is a list of ways to help:
- Mucking outdoor pastures
- Working in our garden
- General cleaning
- Helping at a monthly event
- Our schedule is at maximum capacity and we have a waitlist for students wishing to participate in lessons. Any scholarship recipient who misses more than 30% of the lessons in any one semester will forfeit their scholarship. The only exception to this policy will be a doctor excused absence.
- A scholarship recipient who misses a lesson and does not call ahead to cancel will be charged a $20 no show fee.
