I
was born and raised in the wonderful state of Minnesota. After highschool, I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to attend college. I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Calvin University, where I majored in Recreational Therapy and minored in both Social Work and Spanish.
Throughout my life, I’ve always felt deeply connected to nature and animals. Whether I was at home with my Australian Labradoodle, visiting neighbors and their cats, or spending time at my Great Aunt’s stables, I’ve always been drawn to the sense of peace animals bring. As I continued my education, I felt a strong calling to incorporate that therapeutic connection into my future work.
During college, I worked at a residential care facility for adults with special needs. I especially loved taking walks with them through the community, breathing in the fresh air and greeting every dog we passed. Seeing the joy and excitement on their faces when they interacted with animals always brought a smile to mine.
After graduation, I began an internship at Hestóvin Stables and I quickly fell in love with the work they do. I was inspired by how they integrate horses into therapy in such meaningful ways. It solidified my passion for helping others experience the same sense of joy and peace that I’ve always found in working with horses.
When I’m not at the barn, you can usually find me exploring new hiking trails, spending time outside with friends, working out at the gym, or curled up with a good book on a cozy couch.
